Sometimes, I run...Sometimes, I transcribe.

Here is a picture of my host site family and I at the Orkhon river. I'm trying to find a good place to post all of my pictures so if anyone has recommendations for a good photo hosting site, please tell me! I tried photobucket, but I don't really like it.

Anyways, this week has been interesting. I was asked to help with an English concert. They wanted me to help find poems, songs and dances for it. I was excited to teach "I'm a Little Teapot" or "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" but they had something else in mind. They wanted Britney Spears, Westlife, Backstreet Boys. haha. So I ended up transcribing the words to Britney Spears' song, "Sometimes". This is not an unusual practice for me. One can often find me transcribing songs for teachers in the teacher's breakroom. The songs are often of the cheesy pop kind, though many of them I do not recognize. As for the poem, it will be something of more substance, though I'm a bit worried that it will be difficult. It is a William Wordsworth poem- "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud". And the dancing- well, at first they wanted a kickboxing dance. To this I said, "Well, give me the weekend and I will put a kickboxing dance for you". Luckily, my good ol' daddio sent workout dvds so I was going to use those for inspiration. ha. The next day, however, the mood changed and they wanted a Latin American couples dance. lol. I told them that I definitely didn't know how to do that! So we will see what comes of this concert.

Everyday, I have at least ten little kids say 'hi' to me. I wonder if I'll have some sort of complex when I return home. I just feel so special that all of these little kids constantly wear me out by saying hi to me at every corner of the street! A few weeks ago, a little girl by the name of Haluna followed me during my entire trip to the market. We bought pots and pans, meat, vegetables together and the whole time she just talked and talked. I understood about 40% of what she said but she didn't seem bothered. Usually kids want to talk to me but get discouraged after they realize my Mongolian is limited. Haluna was certainly not of the same kind. I gathered that she was 9 years old. Her mom was either a music/dance teacher or a store owner who was not working that day because she was at a wedding. She had one older sister and her favorite food was fried egg. I'm not really sure of the details that were contained in those rapid babbles, but I appreciated her effort.
